Well let me tell
you a bit about my site. That is what you may or may not already
know....
Computers and software...
I am no long hosting this on my servers.. It got to big and the traffic
has really grown... Now I got it hosted at a very nice place... This site as
well as other sites that I attend to will be moving to a LAMP server in the
near future.. I use MYSQL, PHP and XML daily just on my own system. So my
sites with be running under those very soon..
As you may have seen elsewhere here at hnknchome.net is the software in
use. Almost all my computers are Linux and Slackware 11. I will be
upgrading to 12 shortly... You may have noticed or gleamed that I tend to
run very advanced, highly customized systems.. That includes any Windows
machines I may run..
This site is optimized for any browser. I do recommend the following
browser...
FireFox
Graphics, pictures and logos...
Some graphics here are from emails received over the years. Other logos
and icons that refer to external sites are from those external sites for
use as links and are copyrights of those site owners.
My logos, graphics and pictures have been made or edited with
and/or with
ImageMagickAs well as KDE
programs.
Oh NO not windows!!!
Yes, Windows... I do have a laptop that has XP Media Center Pro on it and
my "daily driver" is multi-bootable plus they are coupled together via
Synergy. I use it for MS Visio, iTunes and Expression Web.
Expression Web is a very good product. I don't say that lightly as
anyone who knows me geek wise will attest.. I am not a big fan of
Microsoft.. I don't take buy their software lightly...
It also it allows me to run test on Windows class machines.
Building the site itself...
Well, I got tired of Mozilla Composer, tested another GPL site builder
(not fond of it either) Tested another tied to a GNU
Desktop. (it acts funny)
Ok so what is a girl to do??? Well I reboot to XP and used FrontPage. . A
funny occurrence - Built much of this site under FrontPage... LOL works fine
in Firefox/Mozilla, Broke under Xploder LOL... go figure...
This site has now been converted to CSS and a Dynamic Web Template..
I have always liked FrontPage and the Microsoft Scripting Environment..
Well, they combined them..
Hello Microsoft's Expression Web!!! Like I said, It is a very good
program. Allowing for hard code hacking as well as a very good interface..
I have been meaning to do this for this site for over 2 years. Now it is
done and I got a very good self-built template out of the deal just as
planned...
